Pros And Cons Of Pornography

This is a touchy subject among many people especially women but a necessary evil in society. I will discuss this in a clinical manner that will not be vulgar.

The history of pornography

Believe it or not it has been around since the beginning of time. Men (more than likely) carved and drew erotic pictures on rocks and cave walls during Neanderthal times so Playboy is nothing new.
In the 13th century early bibles included tiny erotic and explicit images of men and women having sex and even art of two men having sexual relations together. Interesting to find pictures such as these in prayer books of men who are supposed to remain celibate.

France is full of buildings and even religious cathedrals with erotic carvings and paintings dating back to the Middle Ages. Most of the art in churches were cut out or white washed in the 18th century during the post puritan era.

There are paintings depicting acts that appear to be sadistic in nature but were a normal occurrence in buildings of Christian worship. If someone today were to hang a portrait of a woman having her nipples pinched with iron devices it would be a scandal.

Why are men interested in pornography?

Men are visual creatures and are turned on by pictures of naked or nearly naked women or men.

You would have to take a class in anatomy and understand the human male body to understand why they need relief. Viewing erotic pictures helps them release this pent up energy.

You may say keeping them from stimuli will insure celibacy but that does not work and most men you think are abstaining are having some form of sex either by masturbation or sneaking around; believe me, it happens.

Men need sex; it’s how they were made. Whether or not they see nudity or people having sex they will still get aroused, some more than others.

Even though they do not have to have outside stimuli to become aroused it helps tremendously especially for men who have a low libido.

What is it like to have an erection?

Again, you would need to study anatomy to understand completely and unless you are a man you still wouldn’t comprehend fully but having an erection is (I’m told) very uncomfortable, having a way to relieve that build up helps. A female equivalency would be when a woman’s breasts are engorged with milk. If you've ever breast fed an infant you have an idea.

Having an erotic fantasy is part of the process. A person of desire in person takes away that need for pictures but unless he is married or in a relationship with a willing partner he may not always have access to relief. Even then, people have jobs and other obligations and can’t be at his beck and call at all times.

What is good about porn?

It helps men release semen as mentioned before but it also teaches inexperienced boys and men about the female body, sexual positions and acts. Just like anything else, there is good and very bad examples of this art.

Masturbating is much safer than sex with a prostitute who may carry any number of diseases. Prostitution is illegal in most areas so this helps keep men out of jail.

When is pornography bad?

Pornography can become habit forming

Some men who haven’t had success with or access to real people sometimes stop trying and turn exclusively to porn for relief. It can also become an obsession, taking over their lives and interfering with their work, school or relationships with their peers.

It can come between a man and his partner causing jealousy. The woman feels her lover is cheating on her with porn stars even though he has no intensions of an extra curricular affair.

Some men prefer alone time to coupling with their partner; it takes less effort and he can pleasure himself without bothering his lover.

Disillusioned about what is real and what is fake

Learning unhealthy and unsafe acts from extreme websites gives them ideas that are not part of a normal healthy love making session. Expecting a lover in real life to do degrading or harmful things can make some men anxious. Women in porn do it and appear to be enjoying it why can’t he find a girl in person willing to do those things?

Placing women in a roll as merely sex toys can give men a negative view of women.
If a man can’t tell the difference between acting and reality it can be a problem. Porn stars are paid to appear to enjoy everything done to them whether it really feels good or not. Some are slaves and have no choice but to perform otherwise they don’t eat and/or they are punished in despicable ways.

Sex trade

Young girls and boys are kidnapped and sold into slavery everyday right here in America as well as other countries. Just because you see a person on film doesn’t mean they went willingly. Many are drugged and beaten into submission. There isn’t a good way to find out if a person has been exploited or in the business because they want to be there.

If a person on film looks too young to be there they should be investigated to be sure they haven’t participated in child pornography. Unfortunately it isn’t easy to tell and some countries have limited laws.

Whether or not people watch pornography there will always be sex slaves. If no one bought pornographic videos of these girls and boys they would still be sold into prostitution. The only way to protect our kids is to keep a close eye on them and educate them about the dangers.

Prostitution has been around since the beginning of time; it isn’t going anywhere.

Men and women are not turned on by the same things

For the most part, men enjoy visual stimuli while women are turned on by words this is why females seek love stories or romance movies instead of pornography. As always, there are exceptions but this is the majority of society. Not all men realize this or understand. Some guys want their girlfriend to join them in watching a video and can't understand why she is turned off. A good compromise would be a film with a story and sex scenes both can watch but for the most part what turns us on will lie in different places.
